From 11 September 2018 the City of Busselton will be conducting public consultation relating to Development Applications online via this website (Your Say Busselton).

The use of online resources will improve our consultation with the community by providing a one-stop site where community members can view and make submissions, simply and quickly. It will also ensure our follow-up communications can occur quickly and effectively, and improves our efficiencies as your local government.

Adjoining and affected landowners will still be sent a hardcopy letter, which will contain a brief description of the proposal, and will provided the Your Say Busselton website address to view the plans and make a formal submission. If a person chooses to make a submission, all further correspondence will be sent electronically via email. This may include, for example, notification of Council Meeting at which the application will be considered, or notification of a decision.

    PROPERTY : LOT 854 (HSE 4030) JALBARRAGUP ROAD, WALSALL

    PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT : INDUSTRY - EXTRACTIVE (SAND & GRAVEL)

    In July 2016 the City approved a development application for an “Extractive – Industry” on the site. The application was for the extraction of 125,000 cubic metres of sand/gravel. This approval was for 5 years and expired in July 2021. The Applicant has applied for an extension of time to extract the remaining 53,000 cubic metres of material (comprising approximately 50,000 cubic metres of sand; and 3,000 cubic metres of gravel) and complete the rehabilitation works.

    PROPERTY: LOT 200 (HSE 1676) CAVES ROAD, DUNSBOROUGH

    PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT: AMENDMENT TO DEVELOPMENT APPROVAL - TOURIST ACCOMMODATION (REDUCTION OF CHALETS FROM 57 TO 51 AND DESIGN CHANGES)

    Details of the proposal are also available for inspection between the hours of 8.30am and 4.30pm at the City’s Civic and Administration Centre, 2 Southern Drive, Busselton; and at the Busselton and Dunsborough Libraries - submissions will close on 15 October 2021.

    At its meeting held on 9 October 2020 the Regional Joint Development Assessment Panel resolved to approve 57 chalets and a Manager's Residence on the site. In accordance with regulations 17 and 20 of the Planning and Development (Development Assessment Panels) Regulation 2011, the applicant has lodged a modification to this approval which includes the following changes :

    • Reduction in the number of chalets from 57 to 51;
    • Change to configuration of chalets resulting in a 6% increase in floor area and increase from 100 beds (comprising 16 x 1 bed; and 42 x 2 bed = 100 beds) to 109 beds (comprising 44 x 2 bed; and 7 x 3 bed = 109 beds);
    • Redesign of the external appearance of the chalets; and
    • Redesign of the access and carparking areas.

    No changes to the amount of vegetation to be cleared is proposed.

    The proposal comprises of a new Underwater Observatory and Jetty Village precinct. The Underwater Observatory will extend over four storeys (one storey above water level, the remainder below); and includes a licenced cafe / bar facility, observatory area, educational experience, gallery space and associated function area. Visitors will enter into the main reception area via a bridge connection to the Jetty.


    The Jetty Village precinct will comprise of a cafe and bar facility, along with amenities to support the Jetty Village and the Underwater Discovery Centre.
