Consultation has concluded

Residents, property owners and stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on potential changes to the current speed limits along Causeway Road and Strelly Street in Busselton. The changes are being proposed due to potential safety reasons.

Causeway Road

Works along Causeway road to date include the construction of a new roundabout at the Causeway Road/Rosemary Drive intersection and a new roadway and bridge over the Vasse River which links Causeway Road and Cammilleri Street (Stage 1 - Eastern Link).

Traffic monitoring indicates that this modification is successfully diverting traffic from busy intersections in the Busselton CBD.

Stage 2 of the Eastern Link project is currently underway and includes the duplication of the Causeway Road from the newly constructed Rosemary Drive roundabout up to Molloy Street with a new roundabout at Causeway Road and Strelly Street. These works are scheduled to be completed by end of November, weather permitting.

Causeway Road is currently sign posted 70km/h from the Bussell Highway. The speed limit drops to 60km/h just south of the Southern Drive.

The City is investigating the following speed limit changes:

  • the 70km/h section between Bussell Highway and Southern drive to be reduced to 60km/h
  • the 60km/h section after Rosemary Drive roundabout and along the section of road between the City’s Administration Building and Rotary Park, to be reduced to 50km/h

Strelly Street

The City has also built a new roundabout at the Strelly Street/Barlee Street intersection. The adjoining land around the new roundabout is a mixture of commercial, showroom/warehouse and residential properties and therefore consistent with a 50km/h limit. It is however, currently zoned 60km/h.

The City is investigating the following speed limit change:

  • changing the speed limit along the entire length of Strelly Street, including the new roundabout, from 60km/h to 50km/h.

The City is seeking feedback from members of the public, and in particular nearby residents and business operators, on these proposed speed limit changes.

Please provide your feedback and indicate your support, or otherwise for the proposed changes via the survey below. Maps showing the current speed limits and proposed changes are displayed within the survey.

It should be noted that while the City can advocate for changes to be made to existing speed limits, Main Roads WA remains the decision making regulatory authority.

Please contact Daniell Abrahamse on 9781 0420 or email daniell.abrahamse@busselton.wa.gov.au if you require any further information.

This survey will remain open until 31 October 2020.
