Consultation has concluded

Busselton City Centre is a valued recreation and economic hub.

Over the past decade Council has worked hard to increase the number of visitors to the city centre - redeveloping the foreshore area, upgrading recreational facilities and creating a unique cultural precinct.

Council continues to pursue major commercial opportunities including short-stay accommodation options and the development of the Busselton Margaret River Airport. The City has strategically positioned itself as the Events Capital of WA and a premier cruise ship destination bringing many thousands of tourists into the City Centre each year.

New retail options have been opened up and are in the planning. Upgrades to retail areas including Figtree Lane have been undertaken along with parking, lighting and street-scape improvements. More recently, Council has progressed changes to shopping hours providing greater uniformity across the municipality.

The development of a Busselton Activity Centre Plan has commenced. Although in very initial stages, this plan will shape the future of the Busselton City Centre with a focus on developing an active, diverse and vibrant city centre where people will want to live, shop, work, do business, relax, socialise and have fun

There will be opportunities for stakeholders to be involved in the development of this important plan. However, to kick-start the process we’re seeking:

  • advice on the sort of offerings / experiences that might bring you into the Busselton city centre more often;
  • ideas on how best to activate Mitchell Park and Queen Street;
  • community thoughts regarding the development of a new performing arts and entertainment centre in the city centre; and
  • feedback on a draft policy which supports the expansion of alfresco dining options in the Busselton city centre.

Please take the time to provide feedback - your views will help shape your city.
