Complete the survey to tell us your values and priorities for the Busselton City Centre.

 This is the first stage of a review of the Busselton City Centre – we expect to come back to the community again in future stages.

Throughout this process of developing a vision for the Busselton City Centre, the defined barriers of the "City Centre" may evolve. The map below shows what many would perceive as the Centre.

The extent of the Busselton City Centre is not defined at this stage and will be informed by community feedback.

This project could potentially include a wide area if this is needed to achieve the community’s priorities.

For example, if a priority is to focus on opportunities for housing we may extend the study area to look at gradual change in land use around the periphery of the City Centre.

This stage of the project is about understanding the big picture – what are our community’s values, priorities and ideas for the Busselton City Centre?

This information will help decide what we need to focus on in coming stages of this project and a vision for what we are trying to achieve together.

How we go about this work will depend on what the priorities are – for example, our approach to a focus on streetscapes and public spaces will be different to a focus on making opportunities for more retail and commercial services.

In 2014 the Busselton City Centre Conceptual Plan was adopted to provide guidance for a range of changes and initiatives. In 2020 the City commissioned a Retail and Commercial Analysis and a Car Parking Study for the Busselton City Centre; however, these studies were before a post-COVID boom was experienced in our region.

With enormous growth and change over the past few years, it is time to review the plans that guide the development of the Busselton City Centre so that we can continue to preserve what we love about it and provide the things that we want more of.

Potentially – this is one of the approaches we can take depending on the community’s priorities.

A Precinct Structure Plan is a strategic planning document that outlines how an activity centre is proposed to grow and change. As a town planning document, the main focus of a Precinct Structure Plan is on how to manage development on private land to achieve the best possible community outcomes.

The City has been working with the Dunsborough community for several years on streetscape redevelopment, a Precinct Structure Plan, changes to zoning and development controls in the Local Planning Scheme, and Urban Design Guidelines (to be published in the near future).
