Road Safety Innovation Project Update
Have you noticed new roadside signage on either Commonage Road, Layman Road, Vasse Yallingup Siding Road or Biddle Road?
The newly introduced static and interactive road side signage are part of a trial which seeks to measure the effectiveness of the signs from the perspective of both motorists and cyclists. To participate in evaluation of this Commonwealth Road Safety Innovation grant funded project, please take a few minutes to compete the survey below.
This City seeks to build on the October 2020 survey of Motorists and Cyclists, which revealed a shared community commitment to improving motorist/cyclist interactions. In response, a combination of strategies will be trialled, including signage along Vasse Yallingup Siding Road, Commonage Road, Layman Road and Biddle Road.
Some other things you told us in the October 2020 survey:
Both motorists and cyclists expressed a desire for all road users to show patience and mutual respect when sharing the road.
Many cyclists have experienced being overtaken too closely by vehicles at high speed.
Motorists are experiencing poor visibility of cyclists, due to a lack of high visibility clothing/no front or rear lighting on bikes, particularly on rural tree shaded roads.
Reasons for riding include recreation, physical and mental wellbeing benefits
If you have experienced driving and/or cycling on these roads since the signs have been erected, please take a moment to communicate your perceptions of their effectiveness.
By completing this survey you will go in the draw to WIN one of two $100 Gift Vouchers to dine at a local restaurant!
Submissions close 4 July 2021.
