    In partnership with South West Development Commission and aviation consultants, three consulting pty ltd, the City of Busselton is undertaking a detailed market analysis into the potential of international airfreight out of the Busselton Margaret River Airport (BMRA), the results of which will be utilised in developing Business Cases that will be used to pitch to various international carriers, capable of facilitating a combination of passenger and freight air services.

    The City was keen to ascertain if sufficient demand existed for a dedicated bus service from Dunsborough to Busselton during peak hours, Monday to Friday which would then allow the implementation of a trial service from 26 September 2017 – 30 December 2017 to further assess usage of the service.

    The survey was open from 19 July – 8 August, with 92 participants voting YES to the trial bus service. Congratulations to the winner of the $200 CinefestOz Cinepass prize which was drawn at random and the participant has been contacted.

    The Public Transport Authority (PTA) has assessed survey results and local feedback, and can confirm that sufficient demand has been met and therefore the trial bus service will progress.

    The trial service will commence on the 26th September 2017 until the 30th December 2017, operating Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays).

    The Dunsborough to Busselton trip will start at the North Street terminus at 7.38am and operate over the same route as the 815 bus. The Busselton to Dunsborough trip will leave the Albert Street terminus at 5.15pm and operate over the same route as the 815 also.

    Standard TransBusselton fares will apply, with the full trip from Dunsborough to Busselton attracting a two zone fare.

    Outcomes of the surveys are available via the project page or the City of Busselton website.

    The draft Vision and Management Objectives will be used as a guide when developing management strategies and actions for the Lower Vasse River and Toby Inlet. Draft Water Management Plans are expected to be completed by December 2018, with final documents endorsed by June 2019.

    The City of Busselton is planning for the future to ensure it continues to meet local community needs.

    External consultant CATALYSE® was appointed to conduct a Community Survey to assist Council to prioritise where it should be allocating resources.

    The survey closed on the 13 June 2017 and results were processed.

    The City of Busselton is undertaking a strategic review of the Geographe Leisure Centre (GLC) to inform future growth planning and we asked the community about what you thought. We would like to thank everyone who participated! One lucky participant was selected randomly and awarded the 6 month GLC membership prize.

    The results from the survey indicated that the majority of participants were somewhat satisfied or very satisfied with the GLC at present. Those who were unsatisfied indicated that the two primary reasons were due to the facility being too crowded and not good value for money. It was also identified that the areas considered most important for participants were; an additional learn-to-swim/ warm water area and expanded court hall space.

    A report is being prepared for Council consideration and for inclusion in its future planning strategies. The report will provide some recommendations in terms of short, medium and long term operating efficiencies and improvements together with some suggested development options that Council may wish to consider in future years.

    The results from the survey indicated that the majority of participants were somewhat satisfied or very satisfied with the NCC at present. Those who were unsatisfied identified that the primary reason was due to there not being enough variety of facilities available. It was also identified that the potential improvements considered most important for participants were; the development of a swimming pool and an extended sport stadium space.

    A report is being prepared for Council consideration and for inclusion in its future planning strategies. The report will provide some recommendations in terms of short, medium and long term operating efficiencies and improvements together with some suggested development options that Council may wish to consider in future years.

    The City was keen to ascertain the level of community interest in a dedicated bus service from Dunsborough to Busselton during peak hours, Monday to Friday.

    The survey results indicated that participants were equally split in their interest in the bus service, with the majority of participants indicating that they would use the service less than once a week.

    The City may revisit this survey in the near future and reassess community need for the service.

    To plan for future sporting club workshops and forums we were keen to find out what was of interest to you so we could plan an appropriate annual calendar for clubs.

    The survey results indicated that the most sought after workshops were Fixtures, Dealing with Conflict, Budgeting, Newspaper Results & Stories, and Social Media.

    Workshops arranged for June 2017 are:

    • 8 June – Financial Planning
    • 15 June – Social Media
    • 26 June – Grant and sponsorship writing

    The annual program for 2017/18 is under construction and we will provide a link to the calendar once it's available.

    Phoebe Abbey’s House is a Category 1 (the highest level of significance) place on the City of Busselton’s Heritage List and is located in Seymour Street, West Busselton.

    All community feedback received will assist the Phoebe Abbey’s House working group with looking into options for the preservation of this heritage site over the long term.

    As part of the Busselton Margaret River Regional Airport Development Project’s environmental approval process, a review of the airport’s Noise Management Plan (NMP) 2015 has been undertaken. The Draft NMP (2017) was presented to Council on 8 February, 2017 and endorsed for public comment.

    The Draft NMP (2017) was available for public comment and closed on the 19th March 2017.

    The NMP and all submissions were presented to Council on the 22 March 2017. The Council endorsed the NMP subject to noting the 124 submissions, plus 3 late submissions received by the City of Busselton during the public comment period and that the following amendments to the NMP Standard Hours of Operations; Table 2 - Operational Limitations and Approved Parameters be made.
