Dunsborough Foreshore Coastal Adaptation Works

Update 22/05/2026

Officers have reviewed the feedback, and a tender is currently live for coastal management works to be completed.

Over the consultation period we received 40 submissions via the Your Say survey, plus we held a series of information sessions for residents and special interest groups.

The maintenance and refurbishment of the original revetment at Vincent Street is part of increasing sand volumes and dune stabilisation works to assist with management of that part of the foreshore.

From the feedback received regarding the revetment rock faces, 46.3% of respondents preferred granite- weathered face exposed (varied grey and brown faces), 29.3% favoured the granite- weathered face hidden (grey faces throughout), and 24.4% didn’t mind either option. The preferred granite-weathered face exposed was driven by the community’s desire to maintain the natural coastal character of the area. These options can be viewed below.

The community were also asked whether they wanted to see three granite outcrops proposed along Vincent Street foreshore and Bayview Crescent, as part of coastal management practices. 63.4% were in favour of seeing granite outcrops installed in this area for the management of coastal erosion, with 4.9% unsure and 31.7% not in favour.

The next step for this project is for the closure of the tender for the works that include maintenance of the existing rock revetments, dune resilience works and beach nourishment, with a provision for granite outcrops along Vincent Street and Bayview Cresent. With works expected to commence later in the year.
