Consultation has concluded
The City of Busselton has allocated funds for reserve 45093 Cabarita / Karinga Rd Public Open Space and is seeking comments from nearby residents on plans to upgrade this public open space.
Comment is open until 17th November 2021. The quickest and easiest way to provide feedback is via the submission form below.
Scope
With a limited budget funded by WAPC (Western Australian Planning Commission), the City’s landscape architect has created the concept designs with three potential options. You can view the maps of all three options in the documents panel.
The City will only be able to deliver one of the three options within the finite budget.
Option 1: Installation of bollards to prevent public vehicle access
Option 2: Installation of revegetation areas and picnic settings
Option 3: Installation of concrete half court / basketball tower
Tell Us What You Think
Given your proximity to Cabarita / Karinga Park, you are invited to provide comment on the concept design for the upgrade. In considering your feedback, we ask that you keep in mind that some aspects of the upgrade are negotiable and can potentially be altered. These are indicated below:
Negotiable:
Half Basketball court
Is it age appropriate?
Is the placement and orientation of the play equipment appropriate?
Is the proposed half basketball court in keeping with the look and feel of your neighbourhood?
General landscaping
Is the balance between open grassy space, trees and shrubs functional and attractive (bearing in mind the City’s commitment to maintaining water-wise gardens).
Aesthetics
Are access ways in and around the park suitable?
Is the positioning of benches and picnic facilities appropriate?
Construction timeframe and public amenity during construction
These works are schedule to commence in early 2022 – do you perceive any problem with this work schedule?
During works access portions of the Public Open Space will be limited – do you wish to make any comment regarding accessibility during works?
Non-Negotiables:
Australian Standards, Equipment Specification and Engineering principles must be adhered to.
A finite budget has been allocated to the POS upgrade.
The funding arrangements as outlined in the WAPC policy must be adhered to.
