Upgrade of Public Open Space Area - Public Comment
The City of Busselton has allocated funds for Monash Way POS and is seeking comments from nearby residents on plans to upgrade this public open space.
Comment is open until Tuesday 23 March 2021.
Scope
Central to the upgrade of Monash Way POS is the installation of new play equipment and a new pump track for small BMX-style bike riding. Other features include new soft-fall around play equipment, shade cloth, seating and landscaping with a focus on retaining and planting additional shady trees.
The Concept Design has been attached for your reference.
Tell Us What You Think
Given your proximity to Monash Way POS, you are invited to provide comment on the concept design for the upgrade. In considering your feedback, we ask that you keep in mind that some aspects of the upgrade are negotiable and can potentially be altered. These are indicated below:
Negotiable
Playground equipment (climbing / adventure based theme)
Is it age appropriate?
Is the placement and orientation of the play equipment appropriate?
Is the proposed play equipment in keeping with the look and feel of your neighbourhood?
General landscaping
Is the balance between open grassy space, trees and shrubs functional and attractive (bearing in mind the City’s commitment to maintaining water-wise gardens).
Aesthetics
Is the positioning of shade cloth suitable?
Are access ways in and around the park suitable?
Is the positioning of rubbish bins, benches and picnic facilities appropriate?
Construction timeframe and public amenity during construction
These works are schedule to commence in June 2021 – do you perceive any problem with this work schedule?
During works access to the play equipment and the greater area of the Public Open Space will be limited – do you wish to make any comment regarding accessibility during works?
Non-Negotiables:
Australian Standards, Equipment Specification and Engineering principles must be adhered to.
A finite budget has been allocated to the Monash Way POS upgrade.
The funding arrangements as outlined in the WAPC policy must be adhered to.
The defined scope of works must be fulfilled by the City of Busselton. In the case of the Monash Way POS upgrade, a new playground and a new pump (bike) track must be provided.
