Consultation has concluded
The City of Busselton has received an application to use and/or develop land for the following purpose and public comments are invited.
PROPERTY : LOT 75 (HSE 157) HAAGE ROAD, YELVERTON PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT : INDUSTRY - EXTRACTIVE (SAND)
In July 2020 the City received, and subsequently advertised, a development application for an Extractive – Industry (Sand) at the abovementioned property. Since this time the Applicant has been working with the Department of Environment and Water Regulation (DWER) to obtain a clearing permit which is required to remove the vegetation on-site to undertake the extractive.
In September 2021 the Applicant obtained a conditional clearing permit from DWER, with the approved area to be cleared and extracted; and reduced from 11.5 hectares to 5 hectares.
Some key elements of the proposal are outlined below :
Five year approval period;
250,000 cubic metres of material to be extracted;
Operating times will be from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday, excluding Public Holidays;
Haulage route will be east along Haag Road; south only along Chambers Road to Bussell Highway. (Vehicle movements north along Chambers Road, will not be permitted); and
Pit area will be rehabilitated to local native vegetation.
The Applicant has provided the following updated documentation in support of the proposed extractive, which is available to view on the relevant Your Say page :
Operations Environmental Management Plan;
Social Impact Assessment; and
Closure and Rehabilitation Management Plan.

Targeted Fauna Assessment.
