{FINAL REPORT}
On the basis of demonstrated community support; the City has reinstated the livestreaming of CCTV footage of the Busselton Skate Park from the City's website. The survey undertaken to ascertain community sentiment on the issue showed that of the 185 survey respondents, 71% favoured live streaming of CCTV footage. 15% did not support live streaming and 14% supported live streaming only during events.
The City of Busselton recently made available the live-streaming of CCTV footage from the Busselton Skate Park via the City's website. Live streaming activity at popularly frequented public venues via web cam or CCTV is common practice and used by many Local Governments. The City's intention in live-streaming this footage, which captures a small area of the park, was to enable users to view the conditions at the park at any given time, like the surf cameras located at various South West beaches. The Busselton Police have access to the CCTV footage within the location of the Youth Precinct.
There has been a mixed sentiment in the community as to whether live-streaming the footage from the skate park is necessary and/or desirable. In response, the City has taken down the live-streaming while we get a better sense of how the community feels. We'll be guided by community opinion on this issue and therefore welcome your feedback. Please provide your feedback by clicking on the course of action you feel most appropriate within the quick poll below.
