Consultation has concluded

With a strong focus on lifestyle through the provision of safe functional neighbourhoods, an infrastructure and transport network, the City of Busselton has identified a section of Bussell Highway (from Dolphin Road to Little Colin Street) which requires resurfacing. This provides an opportunity to widen the road to include cycle lanes on both sides of the highway and to improve intersections

Scope

The proposed scope of works is to resurface the road, widen to include cycle lanes on both sides, and improve pedestrian facilities and bus stops. The works also include improvement to some intersections to accommodate cyclists.

The total project is planned over 5 years from 2021 to 2025. Stage 1 2020/21 was the design investigations and is complete. Stage 2 2021/22, the current stage is the design and relocation of any roadside services such power poles, underground water, gas and bus stops.

Given your proximity to this project, you are invited to provide comment on the preliminary design. In considering your feedback, we ask that you keep in mind that some aspects of the upgrade are negotiable and can potentially be altered, and some are fixed and cannot be altered. These are indicated below:

Negotiable

  • General road layout details
    1. Does the layout suit your daily travels?
    2. Are you aware of any safety concerns in this area?
    3. Can you see any possible issues that could arise in the future?
  • General footpath / verge treatments and aesthetics of the finished product.
    1. Do you feel pedestrians have been catered for in this design?
    2. Are there any issues you can see with the road verges?
  • Construction timeframe and public amenity during construction
    1. These works are scheduled for the summer months each year – do you perceive any problem with this work schedule?
    2. During works access to your property may be interrupted – do you wish to make any comment regarding accessibility during works?

Non-Negotiables:

  • Australian Standards, Equipment Specification and Engineering principles must be adhered to.
  • The budget and funding arrangements.
  • Works required by Main Roads Western Australia and other regulatory service providers.

Please be aware that your comments may be used to form part of a Council report making it a public document.
