How will this facility work with the Margaret River Cultural Centre development and the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre?

    Both these centres have been visited and consulted with about the City’s plans. Both see the BEACH as opportunity to increase the commercial viability for performance companies and therefore the attractiveness of the SW performance touring circuit bringing a more diverse range of products to entertain and grow audience numbers.

    How will the BEACH affect existing conference venues

    A review of local conference offerings indicates little capacity in existing venues to host medium to large scale business events in excess of 300 people. Consequently there will be minimal displacement caused by the BEACH, given conservative number of events hosted relative to the potential future demand. In contrast, the BEACH will attract larger events, growing the entire industry allowing growth for other venues to partner to meet anticipated demand.

    The flow-on impacts from the proposed BEACH to other industries across the City of Busselton is substantial. The Accommodation & Food Services industry will benefit most in terms of total output $3.8M, followed by Arts & Recreation Services $2.M, Wholesale Trade $2.1M, Manufacturing $1.7M and Retail $1.5M

    How are the Woodturners and the Busselton Repertory Club affected?

    Discussions have been taking place for a considerable time with the Busselton Woodturners Association and a relocation to the Butter Factory Museum site to a new purpose built facility has been agreed in consultation with the other community groups Lessees at the site.

    The Repertory Club and Acting Up are members of the working group for this project. There will be collaborative space in the BEACH which is not currently available for Busselton Repertory Club, Acting Up and other performing arts companies. Their current cramped green room, rehearsal, administration and storage facilities will be replaced with modern, purpose-built facilities.

    Where will people park?

    Parking for the venue will be catered for by:

    ·  Construction of new bays at the Busselton Foreshore

    ·  Drop off zones at the front of the facility

    ·  Availability of over 2800 bays within a 500m radius. Many of these bays have daytime peak usage and would readily available at times needed by the BEACH.

    ·  A Smart Parking app is being considered, showing where bays are and availably;

    ·  Upgrades to cycle paths, bike racks and walkways will encourage alternate forms of transport;

    ·  Short term overflow parking will be available at Signal Park;

    ·  Shuttle busses will be investigated for best pick up and drop off zones;

    Additionally, for large scale conference events, use of coaches as pick up and drop off from accommodation will be used alleviating the need for lots of delegate parking.

    Why this location?

    A main reason this site has been chosen as the preferred site, is the increased vibrancy and activity the new facility will bring to the CBD. With more people on foot, there is a greater likelihood they will take in other retail experiences on offer in the CBD, as well as stop for a pre / post show beverage / meal.
