The City of Busselton is seeking community feedback on what you would like to see upgraded at Holgate Reserve. Once a busy, well-used reserve for beach goers, families, volleyball and tennis enthusiasts, Holgate Reserve is in much need of some love and attention. We would like to hear whether you have used or still continue to use the reserve and what your priorities for the park may be.

This project will have a limited budget, but depending on community feedback, the project can potentially be funded over multiple years.

The option that the community prioritises the most will be presented to Council for consideration of adoption in the 2024/25 budget and developed into a larger concept plan.

The survey closes 23 February 2024.

Following on from consultation in 2024, we can now provide an update on the Holgate Reserve Revitalisation.

Consultation ran for four weeks, and saw 107 participants provide feedback, with 82% of respondents identifying as residents.

Respondents were invited to rank options for the area from 1 (most wanted) to 5 (least wanted). The options were ranked in the following order:

    1. Upgraded playground equipment
    2. Toilet Facilities
    3. Repurpose tennis courts to multi-use sport courts
    4. Park furniture (benches, tables, etc.)
    5. New shelter

The City has identified as a priority to upgrade the playground and repurpose the tennis courts to multi-use sport courts and officers have conducted further consultation with the City’s Disability Access and Inclusion Group, to include design works on:

    • Proposed accessible car bays adjacent.
    • Concrete wheelchair access to new BBQ sites and surrounding play space.
    • Wheelspin, basket swing and accessible multiplay unity.
    • Shade sails covering the playspace.

Although ranking second, the City have recently completed a feasibility study on a public toilet in this reserve. This study will help inform future budget discussions and is not being considered at this time.

To view the design scope for the upgraded tennis courts and playground, see the documents tab on the project page.

Schedule of works (note times are approximate and subject to change):

    • Tennis court upgrade April/May
    • Playground and surrounds June/July

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback and we hope the new space will be enjoyed by all.
